Welcome to DAMHALF.COM Home of the Half Marathon Trail Race
The Dam Half is a challenging ½ marathon trail race in central Pennsylvania. The 13-ish mile course takes runners over single & double track trails with some portions of fire roads. Complete with rocks, mud, downed trees, stumps, roots, woodland creatures, and a small stream crossing, runners will scale challenging ascents with scenic vistas.
With over 2000 feet of total elevation gain, the race is sure to leave your legs screaming for mercy. Afterwards, bask in the camaraderie in the pavilion complete with a warm fire and delicious food. This race is open to all levels of athletes who share a common love for the adventurous outdoors. Other namesakes to this outstanding event are the attractive long sleeve t-shirts, awesome top-finisher awards, abundant door prizes, and overflowing goody bags.

Dam Half – October 7th 2007

With weather hot enough for a day in July, runners braved the challenging 13 mile course and the excessive heat that saw temperatures reach in the 80’s.  But regardless of the temperatures, the day was filled with crystal clear skies and a record 150 enthusiastic runners.

During the race, the runners experienced a very challenging course that had them bounding over lots of dirt, rock, roots, downed trees, and a small water crossing.  If they lifted their heads, they would have witnessed spectacular scenery with gorgeous vistas and challenging single track climbs and ascents.  With over 2000 ft of total elevation gain, the course was not your typical walk/ run through the park.  At the finish, the runners and their loved ones could bask in the camaraderie of fellow racers as they were treated to a tasty feast provided by Nebkat Catering and Larry’s Pizza.  Also there to entertain the troops was local musician Earl Pickens who sang and strummed the guitar as racers continued across the finish line.

The new course record of 1:34:55 was set by  Tadd Morris of Camp Hill.  The past course record holder (1:37::58 in 2005), Frank Leiter of Harrisburg, was on Tadd’s heals, but couldn’t overtake him in the end, finishing at 1:34:56.  (What a race guys!!)  The top female, Kelly Twomey of Harrisburg, recorded a time of 2:11:59.  The top male and female winners were presented a Penns Creek Pottery mug and Kahtoola Flight boots.  (See 2008 results for more)

The Mid Penn Trailblazers would like to thank all the great sponsors who contributed to this race.  The goody bags were once again overflowing and there were lots of door prizes! The club would also like to thank all who participated.  We congratulate the first timers and commend those of you who have not missed a year!   Most importantly, thanks to all the dedicated club members and volunteers who spent time grooming, marking and patrolling the course, helping at registration, and manning the water stops. You efforts are extremely appreciated.

All who participated should feel a sense of total accomplishment.  Many choose to live a sedentary lifestyle…..we chose to play hard!!!  Congratulations to all who took on the Dam Half challenge!  See you all on October 19th 2008!  Bring a friend.
